• British outfit The Darkness (pictured left), who kicked off their Australian tour with a show in Brisbane last night, have announced the forthcoming release of their brand new album 'Hot Cakes'. The new LP is the band's first in almost seven years and will be released in Australia through Liberator Music on Friday August 17. The band plays Panthers in Newcastle tonight.
• The great line-up of performers has been announced to take part in the 2012 MusicOz Awards in Sydney on Tuesday week. Taking the stage are the likes of Sarah McLeod, Kid Mac, I Am Sam, Radio Ink and current chart favourites New Empire, whose single 'One Heart/Million Voices' is being synced via Channel 9's Olympic Games promos. The 2012 MusicOz Awards hit the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday May 15.
• US R&B star Chris Brown's forthcoming album 'Fortune' has been delayed once again. The album will now premiere on Friday July 06 and will be released in Australia in both standard and deluxe editions, the latter version of which will include a collectable cover and additional songs.
• The gang at Modular are offering up a free download of the latest single from DJ Beni. The Waifs And Strays Synthetic remix of 'Last Night' can be discovered and downloaded HERE.
• Simple Plan has added another two shows to their forthcoming Australian touring schedule, announcing dates in both Townsville and Mackay to satisfy their Northern Queensland fans. The Mackay date is locked in on June 13 at the city's Convention Centre, with the Townsville date on June 14 at The Venue. Tickets for both are on sale on Thursday.
• Late, great Australian singer Jimmy Little will be posthumously honoured with the prestigious JC Williamson Award at this year's Helpmann Awards. The 2012 Helpmanns will be held at the Sydney Opera House on Monday September 24.
• Gotye's still kicking goals over in the United States, with his all-conquering single 'Somebody That I Used To Know' breaking a digital sales record. It's the first track in US chart history to sell more than 400,000 downloads for three consecutive weeks. In the last three weeks, the track has sold a staggering 1.4 million copies in the US alone. Naturally, it continues its No.1 heading on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Carly Rae Jepsen joins Fun., Maroon 5 and The Wanted in the top five with her single 'Call Me Maybe'.
• On the US albums chart, Jack White's solo record has sailed to No.1 LP Stateside - 'Blunderbuss' slamming the top spot on the back of 138,000 sales. Adele's '21' moves back up to No.2, with Lee Brice's 'Hard To Love' debuting at No.5. Kip Moore's 'Up All Night' comes in at No.6, UK boyband The Wanted's US debut album (which will also be released here soon) debuts at No.7 and Jason Mraz' 'Love Is A Four Letter Word' slumps from No.2 to No.10 in its second week.
