COUNTDOWN TO EUROVISION : Montenegro

Well it's now May and that can only mean one thing - the Eurovision Song Contest isn't far away. It's now less than two weeks before entrants from across Europe descend on the Azerbaijani capital Baku to take part in the first of the semi finals in this year's competition. Each semi final consists of 18 performances, with just ten performers from each making it through to the 2012 Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where the 'big five' of the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, along with the host nation Azerbaijan, will be waiting for them. Here at auspOp, we're continuing our daily look at each of the competitors' songs in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.

RAMBO AMADEUS : Euro Neuro

With a name like Rambo, we're expecting the Montenegrin entry to Eurovision 2012 to deliver (wait for it)... a knockout performance. Rambo is a man who's difficult to box in, having hosted TV shows, been an award winning sailor, writing music for theatre and opera and releasing more than a dozen albums across the past 23 years.
Self-penned, 'Euro Neuro' is the name of the track and the people of Europe are either going to love it or hate it when it officially kicks off proceedings at semi-final No.1. There's not much of a tune to speak of, Rambo performs a relaxed rap throughout, there's some traditional instrumentation, but if you're looking for big diva vocals, chord changes and other Eurovision favourites, you'll have to look elsewhere. This is unlike anything we've heard at Eurovision before. Whether that works for it or against it remains to be seen.
