COUNTDOWN TO EUROVISION : Moldova

Well it's now May and that can only mean one thing - the Eurovision Song Contest isn't far away. It's now just eight sleeps before entrants from across Europe descend on the Azerbaijani capital Baku to take part in the first of the semi finals in this year's competition. Each semi final consists of 18 performances, with just ten performers from each making it through to the 2012 Grand Final on Saturday May 26, where the 'big five' of the UK, Germany, France, Spain and Italy, along with the host nation Azerbaijan, will be waiting for them. Here at auspOp, we're continuing our daily look at each of the competitors' songs in the lead-up to Eurovision 2012.

PASHA PARFENY : Lautar

Pasha Parfeny may only be 25 years old, but he's been performing in his homeland for the best part of the last decade. This year, however, he's about to step out in the first semi final to represent Moldova at the biggest singing competition in Europe.
He'll be performing the track 'Lautar', a self-penned English language track that's brimming with brass and has the feel-good factor turned up to nine. It's one of those oom-pa European stompers that suits the Eurovision competition right down to the ground. And for our money, Pasha bears more than a striking resemblance to Hollywood actor Edward Norton.
