• Nicki Minaj's two Australian concerts sold out within five minutes of going on sale last Friday. The singer has announced just the two dates (Sydney's Hordern Pavilion on May 16 and Melbourne's Hisense Arena on May 18), but according to her publicist, prior commitments outside the country either side of the shows means there's simply no time to add more dates this time around.
• Sony Music has announced the local release of the forthcoming album for US singer songwriter Patti Smith. The new album is entitled 'Banga' and is the singer's first collection of original material in eight years. The first single from the album ('April Fool') was released on Monday. The album, meanwhile, will drop in Aussie stores on Friday June 01.
• Skinny flat white Anthony Callea (in joke) is becoming quite hot property in the clubs of America. He only arrived back from the US over the weekend, but he's shuttling back there later this month for more live dates. In the meantime, local audiences will catch him performing his latest single 'Last To Go' on Channel 10's 'Young Talent Time' this Friday night and later on that night at the Big Checkpoint Charlie Dance Party at Melbourne's Trak Lounge.• Local fans of Irish sibling duo Jedward will be thrilled to learn that the duo's new single 'Waterline', with which they'll once again represent Ireland at this year's Eurovision Song Contest, will be given a digital release in Australia early next week. It's currently due on Monday.
• The Groovin The Moo festivals for 2012 officially kick off in a few weeks time, so organisers thought it best they lock away the local acts for each centre. In Bendigo, it's Grand Perceptor, Townsville will see Kate Martin perform. In Maitland, you'll be treated to a live set from Boatfriends, in Canberra it's MC Stateovmind and in Bunbury, taking on the local role is Stillwater Giants. The events in Maitland and Bendigo are now sold out, with tickets still remaining for all other dates.
• Love Cold Chisel? Then you'll love the idea of seeing your favourite band on the big screen. In the largest live cinema event in Australian history, movie theatres across the country will beam the band's upcoming performance at Sydney's Hordern Pavilion live onto cinema screens across the country. • Are you a budding musician? Think you have what it takes to be one of Australia's hottest new talents? Then you'd best sign up for the annual MusicOz Awards. Entries to this year's competition have been extended until midnight on Sunday April 15, so you'd best get your skates on. The MusicOz Awards are held at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday May 15. • Looks like the British record buying public has moved on from Chris Brown's little indiscretions, sending his new single 'Turn Up The Music' to the No.1 position on this week's UK singles chart. Nicki Minaj's 'Starships' has moved up to No.3, but last week's No.1 (Katy Perry's 'Part Of Me') has slumped to No.4. Plan B's 'Ill Manors' is the other top ten debut of the week, premiering at No.6.
• Madonna has followed her No.1 Aussie albums debut with a debut atop the British albums charts for her latest album 'MDNA'. The album held off David Guetta, Emeli Sande, Adele and fast-charging Jessie J and Katy Perry to come out on top. Last week's No.1 (Paul Weller's 'Sonik Kicks') tumbled from No.1 to No.10.
